Prumnopitys taxifolia. Matai. “Matai” Straggly tangled juvenile stages grow to iconic tall trees with distinctive flaking bark. Bright-red fruit attract birds. Hardy, but protect from frost while young. Partial shade to sun, keep well mulched. Evergreen. NZ native. 20 m x 7 m.
